I edit all kinds of text, from children's books to cover letters, but I specialize in editing for academics, nonfiction writers, and nonprofits.

I support writers at all stages of the writing process. At the beginning, I help organize unruly ideas; in the middle, I hone structure and sequence, argument or plot; at the end, I provide meticulous line and copy editing. I love to help people figure out what they are trying to say, and I am a fiend for grammar and proofreading.

I've edited:

  • books for Palgrave Macmillan, Oxford University Press, University of California Press, New York University Press, Seal, Teacher’s College Press, University of Illinois Press, the American Psychological Association, and others
  • articles, reports, proposals, white papers, newsletters, and such for organizations like Nellie Mae Education Foundation, Crittenton Women’s Union, Jobs for the Future, and Hunt Alternatives
  • dissertations, resumes, cover letters, college essays, speeches, presentations...you name it, I've probably edited it

"Not only can Becca dramatically improve a writer's work, but she also miraculously strengthens the manuscript's voice so that it sounds even more like the author's."

Joan Bolker, author of Writing Your Dissertation in 15 Minutes a Day

"Becca takes prose and reshapes it so that it conveys the intended meaning with added force and precision. Her sharp intelligence and versatility make her a fine editor for a wide array of topics and genres."

Kathy Schultz, Mills College, author of Listening: A Framework for Teaching Across Differences and Rethinking Classroom Participation: Listening to Silent Voices

"Becca is a thoughtful and perceptive listener, whose tremendously helpful questions helped us get clear on our thinking and our writing. There is no doubt in my mind that she has made a great difference in how my partner and I write articles."

Marilyn Paul, author of It's Hard to Make a Difference When You Can't Find Your Keys
